All Saints Day is Thursday, November 1st.

It is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Masses will be held on Wednesday, October 31st at 5PM;

Thursday, November 1st at 7AM and 5:30PM.

 

All Souls’ Day is Friday, November 2nd.

Our Candlelight Service will take place during the 7PM Mass.

A beautiful and prayerful way of remembering our deceased parish family members during the last year!

Please return your All Souls’ Day Mass Intentions to the rectory office by Tuesday, October 30th, so they may be placed upon our altar. They will be prayed at our All Souls’ Day Mass and designated Masses throughout November.  Deepest Prayerful Gratitude for continuing this beautiful tradition of remembering our deceased loved ones.


 

Prayerful Sympathy is extended to the family of Anthony Charneski, brother of our parish family member, Bernie Charneski. Please remember Anthony in prayer, along with his family and friends during this difficult time of loss, pain and adjustment.

 

 

Trick or Treat on Wednesday, October 31st!

Next week, Sunday, November 4th, Daylight Savings Time ends. Don’t forget to turn your clock back 1 hour before bed next Saturday, November 3rd.

Faith Formation / Ministry

  • Classes will be held as usual this week.

Deepest Prayerful Gratitude to our 6th Grade Faith Formation Class & their catechist, Michelle Bedosky for the beautiful rosaries they have created and participating at last weekend’s 8AM Mass. Double Thumbs Up!


Prayer Shawl Gathering will be held on Thursday, November 8th at 6PM in the church hall. All are invited and welcome to join our ministry. If someone you know needs a prayer shawl please contact the rectory. If you aren’t able to attend a meeting, but want to donate a lap robe, shawl or afghan, please contact the rectory office. Thanks!

If you aren’t able to make an afghan, monetary donations are most welcome and appreciated. They can be made via collection basket (place in an envelope marked “Yarn/Afghans”) or sent to the rectory office. Thank You for helping us to help others.

 

Baptismal Instruction

The next class will be held on Monday, November 5th at 7PM in the church hall. If you are expecting or recently had a baby, please call the rectory office to register for this class.

 

 

1st Friday Calls will be made as usual this week.

Litany to the Sacred Heart will be prayed after this Friday’s 9AM Mass.

Holiday Ministry Schedules are being prepared. If there is a particular Mass you wish to be scheduled for (or not scheduled), please contact the rectory office by November 7th.


Cemetery News

Effective January 1, 2019, the price for cemetery plots at St. John’s, St. Anthony’s and Sts. Cyril & Methodius will increase to $800 each (perpetual care included). Monthly payments can be made over a 24 month period. Contact Charles Prohaska, Cemetery Supervisor at 570-760-7920


It’s time to Make Pierogies for Advent!

Our Pierogie Pinching Parties begin this Monday, October 29th and continue Mondays thru December 10th (except Monday after Thanksgiving, November 26th). Everyone is Invited & Welcome! No Experience Necessary! Any amount of time you can volunteer is greatly appreciated. Help with Pierogie Prep at 8AM on the Sunday before each Pierogie Monday. Pierogies are $9 per dozen. Please call Mary Mack at 570-779-3626 between 9AM and 7PM to place your orders.  Pick-up times are Mondays from 1-2:30PM & 4-5:30PM

 

Holiday Food Baskets

We will once again address the needs of those in our parish family who may have difficulty providing a Thanksgiving dinner. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation toward this much needed Outreach Ministry is asked to place their donation in an envelope marked “Food Basket” and drop in the basket or send to the rectory.

World Mission Sunday

Thank you for your generous response to the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith last weekend on World Mission Sunday. Our parish raised $285.35.
