Prayerful Sympathy is extended to the family of our parish family member, Robert Parker. Please remember Robert in prayer, along with his family and friends, during this difficult time of loss, pain and adjustment.Prayerful Congrats to our Deacon Frank Hine (and his lovely wife, Joan) as he celebrates his 3rd Anniversary to the Diaconate on November 28th!

Christmas Wafers – Oplatki – are available in our church vestibule. A $2 donation is asked per pack of 6 multi-colored wafers.

Christmas Church Decorating will be on Monday, Dec. 17th, Tuesday, Dec. 18th, Thursday, Dec. 20th & Friday, Dec. 21st after 9AM Mass. Lend us your Creative Hand! Thanks!

Last Call to Adopt-A-Flower Help decorate our church for Christmas by “adopting”  a poinsettia in memory of a loved one or for your own special intention. Adopt as many as you like! Adopt-A-Flower cards are in our church vestibule.  Please have all returns in by December 15th.  Donation for the Adopt-A-Flower is $8.00.

Little Blue Books for Advent are available in the church vestibule. Please take home a complimentary copy.

Our Confessions with extended times on Saturday, December 15th and 22nd will begin at 2PM and promptly end at 3:30PM.

Faith Formation / Ministry

Faith Formation Classes will not be held this weekend. Classes resume next Sunday, December 2nd for all students.

  • Faith Formation Classes will be held as usual this week.
  • Please join us on December 15th – 5PM Christmas Movie “The Star” in the church hall. Come as a family, bring a friend, or feel free to drop your child off and do some Christmas shopping!! Pizza and snacks provided.
  • December 16th – Christmas Party during class. Please notify Rachel Kester if your child has any dietary restrictions. All items will be nut free.

Choir Practice – Wednesday, December 12th at 6:30PM  New members are always welcome!  Please use your talent to praise God in Song!

Christmas Play 2018 Rehearsals after today’s 4PM and Sunday morning’s 10:15AM Masses. Newspaper interview at next Sunday’s rehearsal.

Advent Pierogie Sale  – It’s the last day to make pierogies this Monday, December 10th.  Everyone is Invited & Welcome! No Experience Necessary! Any amount of time you can volunteer is greatly appreciated. Help with Pierogie Prep is needed this Sunday at 7AM. Pierogie orders are filled; orders already placed may be picked up Mondays from 1-2:30PM & 4-5:30PM.    Pick-up times are Mondays from 1-2:30PM & 4-5:30PM

Holiday Food Baskets

We will once again address the needs of those in our parish family who may have difficulty providing a Thanksgiving dinner. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation toward this much needed Outreach Ministry is asked to place their donation in an envelope marked “Food Basket” and drop in the basket or send to the rectory.

If you, or someone you know in our parish family, is in need of a Holiday Food Basket, please call the rectory at 570-779-9620. All calls are held in complete confidence.

Flowers to the Homebound

Christmas Poinsettias will be delivered to our homebound parish family members on Saturday, December 15th. Everyone is invited and welcome to spread some Christmas joy. Meet at 9AM on December 15th in our church hall to experience the true spirit of Christmas!

Catholic Social Services Annual Christmas Drive

December 14th is the last day our holiday box will be in the church vestibule for our donations of Toys, as well as Hats, Scarves & Gloves for children. Catholic Social Services will be distributing the items next week. Thank you for helping to ensure all area children have a Merry Christmas!

Cemetery News

Effective January 1, 2019, the price for cemetery plots at St. John’s, St. Anthony’s and Sts. Cyril & Methodius will increase to $800 each (perpetual care included). Monthly payments can be made over a 24 month period. Contact Charles Prohaska, Cemetery Supervisor at 570-760-7920

Diocesan Annual Appeal

Did You Know… If you are 70½ or older and have a traditional individual retirement account, you can use all or part of your required minimum distribution to support your parish or the Diocesan Annual Appeal without having to count the transfers as income for federal tax purposes.
