A nation is known by both its common citizens and those who lead it. This is especially true of the nation who has been favored with democracy. When we elect a leader, we choose the face our nation shows to the world. We allow that individual to be our voice and we entrust them with the care of our best interests. How can we then dismiss the characters of our leaders or their actions? It is only in electing honorable persons, with moral strength and virtues that we can ensure the vital progress of our nation.
Lent changes things
Alms change our spending habits from earth to heaven. Fasting changes our eating habits from fleshy indulgence to spiritual satisfaction. Prayer changes our attitude from self-importance to humility. So what we get from Lent is not simply a change of liturgical cycles. We get a change of heart, a change of attitude, a change of life.

Parish Mission Statement
Our faith community of St. John the Baptist, founded on the word of God; welcomes all with charity and love….both the strong of Spirit and those who search. As part of the Universal Church, we acknowledge that God has uniquely blessed everyone with abundant gifts. We celebrate the differences that make all of us equal in the eyes of the Lord….using our blessings to provide all who join us in Eucharist with a heart-felt sense of family and communion. For the Lord has brought you to our door….you are a stranger here but once.
